Kitty's powers first began expressing as severe headachs in her teen years back in Deerfield, Ill.. It wasn't untill she woke up form a "sleep walking " incident to find her blanket stuck halfway through the floor that the truth began to come to light. Offered recruitment by both the Hellfire Club and the X-men, Kitty chose the latter after a battle that embittered Kitty toward Emma frost to this very day.
Over the years, Kitty befriended the little alien dragon, Lockheed. was possessed briefly by the demon ninja, Ogun. And deeply loved her teammate, Colussous.
Fighting alongside her fellow X-men, however, was a dangerous job As Kitty learned hard and fast one adventure in the morlock tunnles where the X-men battled the Marauders. Taking an energy harpoon hit for a teammate, Kitty nearly died and was stuck in a perminant state of intangibility for a few years after the incident. Recovering on Muir Island off the coast fo Scottland, Kitty helped form Excalibur, essentialy the over-seas X-Men.
Shortly after the formation of Excalibur, Maddilyne Pryor went mad and became the Gobblyn Queen instigating the supernatural Inferno. Kitty managed to save her friends and teammates, Captain Britain and Meggan from it's madening effects, but she did it with the Soul Sword. That ment something had happened to her best friend Illyanna. (speculation abounds over exactly what happened)
The soul sword was eventualy delt with by Nightcrawler's sorceress girlfriend, Amanda Seffon. Amanda managed to separate the corupting sword from Kitty, and entrusted it (foolishly) to her mother who in turn killed the magicians ahead of her on the winding way of magic and became the new Red Queen of the London branch of the Hellfire Club. When the Club failed to control a demon under London, The sword changed hands a few more times untill Amanda again took posession of it as the new Magik.
During her time in Excalibur, Kitty had a brief fling with the older chain-smoaking Pete Wisdom. Wisdom was a former member of the Black Air covert opperations group, but turned against them instead, siding with the good guys.
After the wedding of Captain Britain and Meggan, Excalibur disband, the former X-men returning to New York, and the X-men. Things were pretty standard for a while untill a trip to genosha set Kitty on edge. A short haircut, skimpy attire, and rebellious attitude set the tone for her stay with the X-men untill A mission in space forced her to separate from her friends.
Upon returning to earth, Kitty opted to go to college, leaving the madcap life of an X-man behind. A sentinal attack showed her, however, that you can run, but you can't hide. Stubberon as ever, Kitty stayed at it for a time untill a group of X-men fighting Elias Boggan (Shadow King?) called on her aid.
Unable to just say no afterwards, Kitty was oncemore drafted into the X-men at Emma's request. Emma allegedly wanting someone who didn't particulary trust her to watch her back moraly.
This went on for a time, but all in all, it seemed if anything, Kitty was picking up Emma's bad habbits. She needed a break, and assymilating into the regular human world was Xavier's dream. Not cowering away all cult-like on some mutant coumpound.
Area 51 seemed a natural fit for her years of alien contact, and nack for computers. But with out connections, best she could do was give college the old college try... again. This time the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
Still keeping in touch with her X-teammates, rummblings of an appocalyptic future comming to pass are starting to warrent attention. There may simply be no escaping the X.

As Kitty closed up from work the warm glow of the Strip becconed her. But she resisted. She was no fool. Such opulant hotels wern't build with the idea of people walking OUT with money. She would go out with friends from time to time, sure, but she was no habbitual gambler. But it didn't hurt to cruise the strip in her sporty convertable on the way home in those wee hours of the morning. The traffic was light that time of night as Kitty cruised along the neon lit Blvd. That's when it happened. One of the casino's customers had a few too many complimentary coctails as he staggers off the sidewalk and into the street. There was no way Kitty could stop so she did the only thing she could, She phased the car. As it cruised throught the would-be street pizza, Kitty gives him a dirty look. Hopefuly he'll take the hint and sober-up.
Middle of October crusing with the top down. Something she cirtainly wouldn't do back in chilly New York. The Professor's generous donor had left him an estate she dare say larger than the one in Weschester. And what's more, the man had connections. Xavier would have access to Area 51 it's self. Not that that particulary impressed her. The X-men had been working with and addapting alien technology since she was fourteen. But Xavier's connections with Lilandra and the Shi'ar cirtianly had the governmet's attention, and they were wiling to give the Professor access to the top secret base for discreate randevues with his fine feathered friends.
Mutants cowering away in the Xavier compound rather than regulary mingling with the public was part of the problum in mutant/human relations. Kitty called in a few favors to her old boss at the Belles of Hell back in Chicago and the second night of being in town, she was spinning bottles and pouring drinks at the Sin City Belles of Hell.
