Cage's skin is extremely durable; his toughness has been compared to that of the X-Man Colossus in metal form.
His strength was augmented to superhuman levels, initially allowing him to lift roughly 3 tons. This has been further increased by undergoing an newer version of the Power Man process. Cage's strenth is currently estimated at around 25 tons. The sheer toughness of his skin allows him to hit harder than most other powered beings of similar strength. Cage recovers from injuries roughly 1/3 the rate of a normal human.
History/Background:
Once a feared gang member, Luke Cage grew up surrounded by crime. Framed for a crime he did not commit, Cage soon landed in prison where a group of radical scientists offer him his freedom if he agrees to become a guinea pig for medical experiments.
Luckily, the experiments gave him superhuman strength and toughness instead of cancer. Taking the name Power Man, Luke returned to the streets as a mercenary for hire.
Cage is currently a member of the Avengers, at least before the Civl War event took place. He's a member of the resistance.

Maby it was just because he was more of the independant type. Or maby he wanted to make sure his baby was safe, because it wasn't like everyone knew who he was. But if the goverment got his regerstration, and someone hacked into the goverment... "Bull$#!%." Thought Cage.
He then checked the time. It was time for a meeting. "Don't know why I'm doin' this..." thought Cage. He proceeded to the meeting. "This is all bull$#!%." Maby he just wanted to do it for kicks. Maby he he was just doing it kick some a$$. He took the turn towards the meeting area. Maby he wanted to do it for no reason.
