Name: Elijah Bradely
Alias: Patriot
Age: 17
Gender: male
Side: Patriot is opposed to the Superhero Registration Act.
Appearance: Eli is a slim chocolate-skinned young man with a clean-shaven head and deep hazel eyes. As Patriot, he dons a uniform reminiscent of Captain America's, but still maintains its own style.
Height: Eli is five feet and nine inches tall.
Weight: He weighs one hundred and twenty-nine pounds.
Eye Colour: He has hazel eyes.
Hair Colour: He has no hair.
Mutation/Powers: Eli had no powers passed down from him from his father, but gained his enhanced strength, agility, speed, and endurance as he began taking MGH formula. This had an effect on his health (both mental and physical), however, and her soon gave it up. After this, he recieved a blood transfusion from his grandfather that gave him similar enhancements, making him a true "super-soldier". He wields Captain America's triangular shield.
History/Background: Elijah Bradley's grandfather was, technically, the first super-soldier on Earth, his experiment taking place even before Captain America himself. Elijah himself grew up and devloped as a relatively normal teenager, and, although aware of his grandfather's abilities, didn't gain any of his own as a result as he was conceived before the experiment. He began to grow envious of those with powers and, when Iron Lad arrived at his house to invite his brother into the Young Avengers, he quickly took the chance to fill those shoes.
As his brother was missing, Eli told Iron Lad that he did have powers, and was inducted into the team. He bean taking MGH to grant these, but the other believed he gained his abilities through an emergency blood transfusion from his grandfather. He took up the role of leader, but soon left when his lack of powers was discovered. They persuaded him to retake his position when Hulkling was kidnapped by the Skrulls, and he took a gunshot to save Captain America's life.
By the time Sentry had rushed him to a hospital, he had lost a lot of blood...but was saved by a transfusion from his grandfather. Through this, he gained powers, ironically making his lie come true!
Sample Post: Patriot launched himself across the rooftop, landing in a crouch with a grunt. He propelled himself forward into a sprint, his boots thumping against the concrete and beads of sweat coating his chocolate skin as he leaped once again, the process repeating as bullets ricocheted around him. He cursed under his breath, spitting the world savagely as soldiers barked behind him.
"Pursue! Pursue!" they cried, but Patriot pushed their voices aside. All that mattered to him at that moment was his escape. The pitter-patter of his own feet was overwhelmed by that of the doxen soldiers beginning their march towards him. Helicopters wailed overhead, and, from below, the streets of New York buzzed with activity as throngs of people gathered to see the action.
"I can't keep this up for much longer," he realised aloud. "Darn bullets...keep gettin' closer!"
He slowed tentatively, his eyes straying to the next building along his wild trajectory. He would never make the three-storey jump that would take him to that rooftop. He had to think of something...and fast. He eyed the wall of the building, a plan formulating in his head. He didn't know if he had the strength left in him- he could feel his energy draining - but he had to try. Accelerating substantially, his heart hammering inside his chest, he hurled himself towards the next building, aiming his feet at the bricks.
For a single moment, he hung in midair, a combination of exhaustion and fear plastered across his face...and then his feet hit the side of the building, and he drove himself back off it, thrusting his body into a somersault that took him sailing over the chasing soldiers. He ground his teeth together in determination and gathered the last of his energy together for a final escape. But first...he would have to have the last hit.
"Showtime, troops," he muttered, and hurled himself into the fray.
