Name: Maya Lopez
Alias: Echo or Ronin
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Side: Neutral, but is against the Act, and occasionally helps the Anti-Treaty group.
Appearance:
(Maya as Echo)
(Maya as Ronin)
Height: 5.8 ft.
Weight: 139 lbs.
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Black
Mutation/Powers: Photographic reflexes, or the ability to perfectly copy other people's movements by just observing them and watching their moves and what they do. She has a great drawback, though, because she is deaf, and is basically helpless in the dark or areas where she is not able to clearly see the person or surrounding area.
History/Background: When Maya was small, her father was killed by Wilson Fisk. After this happened, Fisk raised Maya, and cared for her as if she was his own. Believed to be retarded because of her deafness defect, Maya was sent to many schools all over the area, and became a very gifted child and woman later on. When Fisk told Maya how her father had died, and lied, he sent her to Matt Murdock, to 'prove Matt's weakness.' Echo and Matt fell in love, and she hunted down Daredevil, her fathers 'killer.'
In a confusing chain of events, Maya found out who had really killed her father, and confronted Fisk. Faced with the lies and tragedy that she had gone through, Maya fled to the United States. Trying to find peace, the girl came to her father's old friend and asked for his wisdom and help. Soon after, Echo found peace with her past, and continued her performance art.
Now Echo had heard of the Act to register all mutants, and returned to fight for justice and equality for mutants and humans. She is not found standing for either side, but clearly stands against the Registration in her actions and words.
Sample Post: Maya sat on the top of the motel that was currently her home, and sighed, watching the sun slowly rise, its fiery rays just breaking the top of the tall, gleaming buildings. Sometimes she felt that her defect was a blessing, and not a curse. Like now.
There ws no expression on her face, and the only evidence that she was thinking about anything was the small, glittering tear that sat on her cheek, just below the handprint that covered half her face. A shadow flitted behind her, and tore her from her reveire. Echo turned slightly to face the shadow.
"What are you doing here?"
"The same thing you are," it replied, in a deep, yet light and soulful voice.
She snorted. "I doubt it. There are many other things you could do besides sit up here and think of the few times you screwed up." Maya stood and faced the shadowed figure directly. "If you wouldn't mind, move."
The man did not argue, but silently stepped aside and let her pass, watching her as she made her way over to the worn ladder. "Remember what I told you," he said quietly.
"It wasn't my fault, and I can't change the past. Just remember this: The girl you remember is gone, and I will not be swayed by your lies this time." She stepped down onto the first step, still watching him.
"I know." He replied. "But its not just lies that can sway a person. There are lives at stake in this one. I'm not your father, and I'm not your peer, you can make your own decisions. Just don't come bawling to me when you get hurt."
Maya stared back at him. "You can be sure I won't," she spat, and swung down the ladder, into the darkness.
