THe GOVERNMENT didn't launch that attack, Iron Man, SHIELD did I agree that the government can hardly be trusted but I mean at this stage very few heroes have a secret identity... Spidey, Daredevil..... but Spidey is Pro-Reg! And let's not forget; it's all very wlel saying the Avengers will deal with something or w/e... But as the Scarlet Witch proved... what happens if the traitor is WITHIN the ranks? She killed 3 Avengers, destroyed the Mansion, disassembled the group and, most importantly, (although it may not seem it) she got Tony fired as Secretary of Defensive. A so-called SUPER-HERO made MAJOR influence on the government. With their info, SHIELD COULD have prevented M-Day, it could have prevented Stamford and it could even have prevented the Disassembling!

SHIELD is the government, really.
I would be pro-registration if the hands it was being put into were competent ones, but no doubt this will turn into some sort of ''kill-every-hero-in-sight'' plan if someone dares to cross them. You saw how willing they were to arrest Cap after everything he's done for them; it looks more like the government is the traitor here to me.
There's always going to be at least one hero that doesn't do as he's told when the government will ''organise'' the efforts. What happens then? What if he's in the middle of something important, be it personal? They hunt him down and beta him into submission? They ban him from being a hero? Why do you need a license to be a hero when the president doesn't have a license to be the president? Heroes have shown their competence in the past. The government haven't, IMO.

Those were his sentiments in Amazing Spiderman and even in Civil War #1. Though I'm sure Tony can convince him to side with him-his personal interest is still being anti.
