Eric Lenscherr was once a good friend to the mutant Charles Xavier. The two worked together in their early adulthood, displaying their powers to each other and the world for the first time. Unfortunately, soon after they met Charles was lost to the world. Thus began the Age Of Apocalypse. Without Charles Xavier heading the campaign for mutant rights, the Human Mutant situation quickly deteriorated. Many mutants made poor choices in their lives creating a greater rift between humanity and Mutant kind.
Without a strong leader to unite the growing mutant population, Apocalypse began recruiting wayward mutants to build his army. Eric, codenamed Magneto, saw the need for a positive mutant leader and stepped up. Unfortunately this came too late, for Apocalypse had grown too strong with too many followers to be easily vanquished. Magneto began to form a band of mutant-heros to oppose the path of Apocalypse. These heroes were dubbed the X-men, after Magneto's friend in his youth, Charles Xavier.
Politics, as well as geography, was drastically changed as a result of Apocalypse’s war against humanity. The distinct division of the political systems in the Age of Apocalypse was between two super-powers: Apocalypse in the west, and the Human High Council in the East. Both powers acted in the "best interest" of their respective genetic breeds.
Both sides were at a dentente: Apocalypse's domain protected by a sea-wall defense perimeter, sentinals and powerful mutant; and the High Council protected by a large cache of nuclear warheads and their own sentinals. Both were calling for peace while each plotted the others utter and total destruction. The coming war could decimate portions of the globe, rendering approximately half the planet uninhabitable to anyone susceptible to radiation.
Apocalypse has varying ties with other groups, often having special relationships with genetically enhanced humans (such as the Inhumans) countered by no tolerance towards extra-dimensional invaders (like beings from the Negative Zone). Inter-planetary relations often gave his scientists new species to experiment on. Which in turn helped to make Apocalypse’s soldier’s more strong and versatile.
Now the decision is yours, which side will YOU choose?
