When we last left this world, the Mutant Rights Bill was going full-steam ahead and Worthington Labs, producer of the "Mutant Cure", had just been destroyed. But despite this superficial peace, all is not well in the world.
The mutant cure is still in circulation throughout the world; despite it no longer being in production there were huge stockpiles of it throughout the civilized countries of the world, and they will use it if they must. Magneto is marketing "super powers" to natural humans - his own cure for the defects of the Home sapiens. The restored humans are finding it hard to re-integrate into society, and many of them have found a home at Rogue's Place. Pyro is hiding out with his new Brotherhood, waiting for an opportunity to bring about change the way he still sees it - not in curing, but in destroying. And the X-men, now run by Storm, are celebrities.
