The following are an important lead-ins to Civil War which are NOT publicly known, hence them not being done as a news Report.

Since the Kree/Skrull War, a secret group of six powerful beings- Black Bolt, Iron Man, Prof X, Namor, Dr Strange and Mr Fantastic have met irregularly, calling themselves the Illuminati. They have shared vital information. However, following the House of M, Xavier is missing. Against Namor's wishes, they sent the Hulk into Space so he could do no more damage. Now they have split. Iron man revealed to them the Superhuman Registration Act. As a result, Namor, Dr Strange and Black Bolt left in disgust, opposing the act. Mr Fantastic agreed with Iron Man, but the Illuminati are no more.
The Return of Doctor Doom... and Thor?
The Fantastic Four were called to Oklahoma just recently to discover a vital site under attack by Doombots. Doctor Doom has returned to overlordship of Latveria and attempted to sieze the relic which crashed to Earth months ago- the hammer of the now-dead Thor. He failed to lift it, and in the end was defeated, though he is still at large. However, a mysterious man with the initials "DB"- those of Thor's human alias was seen headed for Oklahom....
Spider-Man and Iron Man
Spider-Man has been given a new costume by Iron Man, a red and gold one with several built in technologies. As Peter Parker, he went with Iron Man to Washington. There, they were attacked by the mercenary Titanium Man trying to kill Iron Man. Spider-Man fended him off, not knowing Iron Man secretly paid Titanium Man to attack him in order to gain sympathy.... Spider-Man is now Iron Man's right hand.... Man.
