The ashes from the explosion still fell from the sky like an unholy snow when Bishop arrived. His eyes first laid upon a child, no older five, burnt with a plastic ball melted into his hand. He felt the sense of defeat he lived with everyday in his future grasp him by the throat-and he in turn clutches onto his pistol as if it held the answer to why this happened.
How could anyone even begin to look at those fools like heroes? They were just a bunch of hacks with a television show. Heroes-yeah right. Funny what some stations will do for ratings.

Logan had come some time later. He looked around and searched for some survivors, he knew chances where small seeing what was left of the building. He walked about on the side of the disaster. His sences sharp. Somewhere off he could hear someone, alive. He made his way over there through the rubble. A small part of the building standing still up. He looked back at the others then went inside. He had to stay low for the rubble comming down still.
After a while the part that had been standing up, perhaps a room that was stronger than the rest came down. Wolverine had found someone inside He shielded the boy with his own, knowing he would stand a better chance. When it was over he pushed it off him and came up again, he caried the kid to the others and looked at Captain America. "I can't sence anymore out there." He said and looked back.

Cap looked out and gave a tired sigh. It had been a bitter day and possibly the worst in his life. And from someone who had seen his best friend destroyed and then reborn as a monster, who had seen his team crumble apart and friends die, that was saying something.
He looked around one last time at the ruins that had once been a school- a place where hundreds of kids had studied and laughed and played. He did not answer Logan's question immediately, playing for time. Instead he turned to the Fire Chief. "How many dead?" he asked. The Fire Chief looked grave. "If we've got all the survivors? Hard to say but we think it's about Seven hundred and eighty."
Cap was staggered by the number of deaths. For the tenth time that day, tears welled up in his eyes. He looked at Logan, then round at the other heroes. Tehy all stared back gravely. Logan couldn't sense anyone. They hadn't found many people in the last hour. Tony couldn't find anyone with his sensors.
"Let's go home." said Cap numbly. The sentence was almost wrenched out of him. He shouldered his Shield and began to walk away, trudging slowly and feeling his heart ache. "Let's just go home..."

Peter could not believe what Caps was saying, they couldn't just give up, they just had to keep going, but for what use?
He himself couldn't find any trace of life, Wolverine couldn't. Tony couldn't, it made it pretty obvious that there weren't anymore survivors.
He dragged himself after Captain America, to head back to the Stark tower.

Namor left for Atlantis. These Americans would need time to morn, and when that time was over, it would be time to fight. These people will be forced to ratify that Act soon. It made Namor think of how grateful he was to rule in a monarchy, for sometimes democracy is easier to manipulate than a single man.

Logan walked after Captain America, it seemed it didn't affect him, his face was normall, as where his eyes. To the others it would seem like this all did nothing to him. However if you could look at the inside you could see anger building up, slowly rising. A bit more with every step, taking it all to controll.

Evo had wakled in quietly, he didn't want to interupt the other Heroes so he helped out in his own way and was amazed that Speedball was missing "God, why him? Why any member of the New Warriors?" while he wasn't a actual member, he knew Speedball and they were like brothers, with the Warriors like a gang that he could pop in and say hey to. Looking as the other heroes went back, he followed them in case he could do something.

Echo paused, wanting to stay and help, but she knew it was useless. Humans were beginning to gather, and most of them were glaring at what seemed suspiciously like the group of mutants. Maya turned away and followed the others, treading carefully around the rubble.

mimic watched the scene from the shield hellicarrier, why wouldnt they let him go and help the surviors agent hill entered the room and informed him that he would be going on a field trip to westchester. Mimic knew that there was a reason he had been moved from the amry base that was his home to this carrier; and knew now that what ever he did next would effect the heroes below him.
