There was a flash of white light, a vague unearthly scent, and then Steve Rogers stood on the top floor of Stark Tower, looking around him at the familiar settings. The first thing that struck him was that this was all.... the same... Nothing had changed since he had last been here- well, he suspected that downstairs, where the battle had occured with SHIELD it would be different, but up here.... nothing. He didn't know why it SHOULD have, come to that, yet he had still been expecting it to be different Because Tony Stark was definitely different. The Tony Stark he knew would never have gone on television and all but blamed a deadly attack on him, Steve Rogers- Captain America. The Tony Stark he knew would never have plunged the super-hero community into a deadly civil war. NO! We can prevent this... That was why he was here. To try, desperately, probably in vain, to prevent a war that would be catastrophic to all sides. He looked around at his two companions- Logan 'Wolverine', and Luke 'Powerman' Cage. Three. Once, Cap had led the Avengers when they had had dozens of members, when they had been the most respected team in America, in the WORLD! Now, his team was down to three, the three New Avengers who had resisted the Registration Act. Tony Stark and the Pro-Registration Avengers were up in Washington DC... or had been... they would be on their way back now. And once they came upstairs, they would find Cap waiting for them. He had lost one team of Avengers. He had no intention of losing a second. He turned to Doctor Strange, who had teleported them in. "Thank you, Stephen. We can handle it from here."

The good doctor nodded. "Do try not to get into a fight this time. Your shoulder might be a little sore to remind you not to get shot again." He looked over to the other two. "If there is even a remote sign of violence, I'll know. If anything goes south, all of you grab each other and I'll teleport you back to base." He turned back to Steve. "Good luck."
With another flash of white light, he was gone.

"Damn," was the one word he could think of.
Cage knew that they'd have to duke it out. He just knew. He didn't know how the'd go up against the Sentry though. Without him, they might stand a fair chance. But Sentry was a member of the goverment forces. But whatever happend, Cage would'nt go down without a fight. However, Cap wanted to try and talk it out first. So he'd go with it. But Cage knew that this wouldn't end in a freindly conservation. This would end in war.
"Damn."

Cap nodded grimly to Cage. "You up for it Logan?" he asked. They would be back any minute- if they weren't already. It was time for confrontation. HE couldn't help but think of the parallels with the Avengers a year or so earlier when...
NO! He would NOT compare this with Wanda Maximoff's madness. He WOULD save the Avengers this time. He failed once, he wouldn't fail again. And now he stood with two of the most trusted men he knew, ready to do what it took. No matter what.

'Old Friend, we're in this together. We've fought together before, why should this be any different. Different enemy, same war.'
Wolverine could hear them coming, bring the fight to them...they were a great distance away, but they were primed and ready to fight, fight for thier cause, a cause that Logan didn't believe in.
'Cap,' the blades slowly extended out of his hands 'you ready?'

Cap looked between his two comrades, sharing a glance, and then he nodded. Gripping the handle of his Shield more tightly, he stepped out- if Logan thought they were here, then they were here. In step, the three headed out.
It was time

'We're moving out people' Logan was loud and clear, this was not the time for mistakes and misunderstandings
Logan put his hand on Cap's shoulder and pulled him in close, Logan wispered in his ear
'Cap, we don't have to do this, it doesn;t have to start like this...i'm a 100% behind you, don't get me wrong, but are you 110 % sure this is right?'

Cap thought for a moment. He wasn't 100% sure, of course. No-one could be 100% sure they wanted to engage in a confrontation which would almost certainly result in them needing to fight their greatest friends. But he knew, he KNEW that it had to be done. Because what Iron man was supporting, it threatened all their liberties.... and and Captain America stood for the ideal of America, for freedom, democracy, justice.
"Am I sure? No, Logan." he said. "No I'm not. But you are wrong- we do have to do this. No matter what." And with that, he stepped onto the stairs and began to descend.
Towards his fate.
