Height 5'10"
Weight 130 lbs
Eye Colour Green
Hair Colour Dyed Black
Mutation/Powers: Spider-woman possesses beyond peak human strength (she can lift about seven tons for around an hour before becoming tired), speed, endurance and reflexes. Her body also produces an excess of bioelectricity which she then can release in powerful electric blasts that she calls "venom blasts"which at close range and full force are capable of killing an average human. She also has limited abilities for flight, able to carry a weight equal or slightly greater than her own body weight.
Her body also produces a pheromone which she can use to make nearby men and women very attracted to her and very agreeable with her.
History/Background:
Born to an American father, anthropologist Dr. Jonathan Drew, and his British wife, Merriem Drew, Jessica was a young girl when the family moved to the small Eastern European nation of Transia. Dr. Drew and his collegue were working on building a research facility at Wundagore Mountain in Transia. The pair became weathly with the discovery of uranium on the property and they poured that money into the building of their centre for science.
Jessica however became ill due to radiation poisioning. Dr. Drew, having discovered that spiders had a greater degree of resistance to radiation than humans, injected Jessica with radiated spider blood hoping to save her life. He then placed her in a genetic accelerator. Her mother died during the first few days that she was in the chamber and Dr. Drew became so despondent that he returned to England leaving Jessica in the chamber aging at a much slower rate than normal, being educated by automatic tapes.
When the chamber released her automatically Jessica was taken under the wing of the High Evolutionary, who had been her father's partner prior to his taking the title. She was raised in the scientific retreat, but eventually had to rejoin human society. Her initially attempts however were tragic and she ended up killing her first love when embracing him as she accidently discharged her bioelectricity. Like anyone with super-powers in Eastern Europe she ended up being chassed by an angry mob, and was saved by Count Otto Vermis, the head of a splinter group of Hydra.
Drew became a Hydra agent, serving the evil organization for several years. However she eventually broke free of their grasp, and ended up becoming a double agent serving under Nick Fury as a SHIELD Agent. She later became an official full time SHIELD Agent, and adopted the superhero guise of Spider-woman for a time. After a few years she retired the Spider-woman persona and worked first as a private detective and then again as a SHIELD Agent, assigned as part of the guard force on the super-human cell the Raft.
During the breakout on the raft that initially brought together the New Avengers, Drew was escorting lawyer Matthew Murdoch and his partner Foggy Nelson on a visit to see the incarcerated hero the Sentry. During the breakout she fought alongside Spider-man, Captain America, Iron Man and the others. Captain America then asked her to join the New Avengers, which she did.
However her time in the New Avengers was not an easy one. It was revealled that not only was she working for Hydra, but also Nick Fury as a triple agent. Her loyalties were questioned by nearly ever member of the team after a confrontation with Captain America. During the House of M she was the one hero who after regaining their memories wanted to leave the world as it was, finding that the life she had been given preferable to the one she really had.
Sample Post:
Jessica Drew came down the stairs and into the main headquarters of the pro-registration forces in Stark Tower. A few days ago it had been the HQ of the New Avengers and now the former leader of the group Captain America was a fugitive and those left were trying to track him down. It made no sense to Drew. Things were moving too fast. So fast even that her Hydra contact had not been able to decide what exactly they wanted her to do.
All that had been clear from her meeting in a Bubble Tea house a few blocks away from Stark Tower, was that Hydra was delighting in the potential chaos that the situation was going to create. She had passed this information on to Nick Fury of course, but he had given her even less direction than Hydra. Essentially she had to stay put, which meant siding with Iron Man and the others who were gathering under his banner.
Not that she had strong feelings either way. She understood the desire for privacy and secrecy but she had long ago become a SHIELD Agent and saw nothing terrible in the prospect of super humans putting aside tights for badges. Both sides were just being driven by ego. Steve Rogers had long ago revealled to the world that he was Captain America, and nothing terrible had happened to him. On the other hand Stark had valued his secrecy and had worked hard to reestablish his secret identity following the breakup of the last Avengers. That the two of them couldn't find compromise was just asinine.
She entered the meeting room, nodding at those already there and lowering herself into a chair. "Now," she said, "what did I miss?"
