Name: James Howlett/Logan
Alias: Wolverine
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Side: Against the SHR Act
Appearance:
Height: 5'3
Weight : 300 lbs (with Adamantium)
Eye Colour: Brown
Hair Colour: Black
Mutation/Powers: Wolverine is a mutant with a number of enhancements to his physiology. Wolverine possesses heightened senses, making him capable of seeing things at a maximum distance greater than that of a normal human. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, and he is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if that person or object is hidden. Logan can use these enhanced senses to track anyone, with an impressive degree of success.
He possesses retractable bone claws that are housed in his forearms, they are part of his skeleton system. At will Wolverine can release these claws through his skin between the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but bleeding is quickly halted by his healing factor. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than that of normal human bone structure. This allows Wolverine to be able to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials. (Note: While Wolverine possessed his adamantium skeleton, his claws were able to cut through almost any material without any fear of damage to the claws.)
Lastly, Wolverine possesses an accelerated healing factor based on his physiology. While most normal humans heal injuries over a long period of time, Wolverine's healing factor speeds up that natural process. Wolverine's natural healing has been advanced to the point where he can heal extensive injuries (such as broken limbs) in a matter of hours to days. This factor gives him a higher resistance to poisons and toxins, and he can recover from almost any injury. The more extensive the injury, the longer the healing time will be.
Wolverine is not immortal, however. If the injuries are extensive enough, especially if they result in the loss of vital organs, large amounts of blood, and/or loss of physical form (such as having flesh burned away by fire or acid), Logan can die.
Wolverine, again due to his healing factor, has an enhanced resistance to disease, as well as an extended life span. Despite Wolverine's chronological age, he is still as healthy and physically fit as a man in his prime.
History/Background:
Born James Howlett in 1892, Wolverine was an unassuming boy and hardly the picture of a ferocious killer. If anything, he appeared like the slightest nudge would break him. A lonely child of wealthy lineage, James had few friends growing up. He lived a rather mundane life until 1907, when his mutant powers first manifested.
Thomas Logan, the Howlett's groundskeeper, shot and murdered James' father. The sight of this malicious act triggered James' latent mutant powers. His claws extended from his hands, killing Thomas Logan. He fled with his only friend, Rose, to British Columbia, changed his name to Logan, and spent several years working hard labor. But no change or location or name could help the young man escape his mutant abilities or his past.
Thomas Logan's son, aptly named Dog, eventually found Logan and, in the ensuing fight, Logan's first love, Rose was accidentally killed by his own deadly claws. Unable to cope with what he'd done, his mind shut down creating his own amnesia and the young man fled into the wilderness, away from the civilized world.
Decades later, having re-assimilated himself into society, Logan joined the Army and fought in World War I. Having disassociated himself psychologically with his past, he wasn't even aware of his powers or who he was, other than that his name was Logan. For years Logan bounced around as a mercenary, doing what he did best.
In the early '60s, Logan was recruited into a multi-national intelligence organization as a black ops agent for Team X. It's with Team X where Logan fell under the heavy influence and watchful eye of Dr. Cornelius, who was well-aware of Logan's mutant powers. Eventually, Cornelius drafted Logan into the Weapon X project. Logan was the guinea pig for a new experiment -- bonding adamantium to bone to create a super soldier.
The experiment was a success, though the process nearly killed Logan, who managed to escape the Weapon X facility and found refuge once again in the wilderness. Unknown to Logan, Dr. Cornelius had implanted the deadly Shiva Virus into his system, which would lay dormant for many years.
Logan returned to his mercenary life once more, but his past became an even more tangled mystery as the Weapon X program had not only planted memory blocks, but also false memories to confuse him. Mercenary life ended a few years later and Logan took a role in Department H, Canada's premiere super-human defense force. Logan, using the code name Wolverine, stayed with Department H for several years, but finally resigned after developing an emotional attachment to his best friend's wife.
Shortly thereafter, Logan joined the X-Men where he truly began to deal with his wild side. The bonds that grew with the X-Men changed him more than anyone could possibly imagine and the ferocious killer became a friend and father figure to his fellow X-Men.
Flash forward a few more years to a time when one of the world's most powerful mutants, Magneto, had threatened the lives of every non-mutant on planet earth and had just killed several million people to illustrate his point that homo sapien superior was the next evolution of man.
The X-Men, not exactly jiving with Magneto's megalomania, ambush the Master of Magnetism and his minions. During the battle, Wolverine attempted to kill Magneto. Angered by Wolverine's hostility towards his ultimate cause, Magneto used his absolute control over metal and magnetic forces to rip the adamantium from Wolverine's bones through his pores. And yes, it hurt real bad.
Wolverine barely survived the experience and spent several years without his adamantium skeleton, using merely bone claws to slice and dice his enemies. Recently Wolverine earned back his adamantium thanks to the mutant overlord and all-around psycho Apocalypse. Pocky wished to make Wolverine his new agent of Death for his Horsemen of the Apocalypse and helped Logan and adamantium get jiggy with it once more. And all for the mere price of being his lapdog and unholy force of Death.
With the help of the X-Men, Wolverine broke free of Apocalypse's influence and the lovable Canuck was once again fighting on the side of the angels.
Recently he has his memory back due to the recent events around the House of M. On a mission in the Savage land he met the New Avengers. He joined up with them and has been a member ever since..
Sample Post:
He looked down the side-alley. He knew he had gone in here. Letting his claws slowely slide out he followed the scent. He would not give up so easy. He turned around. "I figured you would be tougher to track." His eyes narrowed as he watched his foe's movements closely. He had never met the guy but still, no one hunted him down and got away with it. After a moment he set off and attacked, his aim going for chest and throat.
