He could tell that something was troubling Steve. It wasn't often that Steve had a grim expression. In fact, Stephen couldn't remember the last time that the Captain looked grim. It had at least been since the Kree-Skrull War. Something was very serious. And very wrong.
"Is...is that such a wise idea?" He crossed his arms in front of his chest. "That's literally walking into the lion's den. Going out in public is one thing, but going to the headquarters of the Act's biggest proponent is another." He sighed. "With all due respect, it's quite frankly insane." The doctor grew quiet for a few moments.
"But a man must do what a man must do. But before you do..." Stephen closed his eyes as, at the same moment, the Eye of Agamotto that was adorned near his throat opened up, revealing its brilliant golden orb. A ray of light was cast over Captain America from the eye for a few moments before it closed, at which point Stephen opened his mind once more.
"Agamotto has recognized you as pure of heart. As such, you're under his protection. So long as you remain a defender of the light, you're protected from mortal harm. Basically - as long as you don't kill a virgin or anything of the sort, you won't die. Don't do anything stupid and try not to get hurt, Steve. You're protected from mortal injury, but not from losing an arm." The stoic doctor for once had a light grin on his lips.

A light grin almost brushed across Steve's lips. "I'll do my best not to, then." he said. He turned to the Torch. "That was... that was well done, Johnny." he said, although he was a little incensed Torch hadn't thought to point that out sooner. "Good intiative."
The spell truly did make Cap feel better- at least a little. But he couldn't help but shake the dark feeling in the pit of his stomach, and he wondered if in order to win this war he was going to have to do something bad, something which would lead to the... NO! He couldn't forsake his principles.
Another thought came to his mind; Reed Richards, the smartest man Steve knew, often said that there was no such thing as magic... so maybe... but that was ridiculous! Steve had known Stephen Strange a long time and he was most definitely a Sorceror Supreme. And hadn't Richards been defeated by Doctor Doom when the king of Latveria turned to sorcery?
Cap shook his head to clear the brooding doubts. He never normally felt like this. He knew why of course.
Truth be told, he didn't know if he could trust anybody anymore. Tony had betrayed him, Peter had betrayed him, all of SHIELD.... half the New Avengers, plus old Avengers like Hank and Janet Pym.... throw in Reed Richards and Ben Grimm, two of the finest men Steve had ever known and....
For all he knew, Johnny Storm or Matt Murdock could be reporting his every move back to Tony- NO! No! He had to control himself. That, he knew, was the real reason he was bringing Logan and Cage only. They were two of the most loyal, principled men he knew. If THEY betrayed him... well then all would truly be lost.
"Logan, if you're coming, let's head now. We can try to pick up Cage on our way."
The storm was about to break.

"Have fun," Johnny said with a slight chuckle as he waved.
It was time for the war to begin. Johnny knew it was coming.

Hawkeye was pissed. He couldn't stand this. Clint felt that Steve and the others were walking into there deaths. As much as they had been through together Clint understood why he couldn't go but he didn't like it. "Steve if you die, I'll kill you" Clint said with a smile before Cap and Wolverine left. "Good luck my friends."

"No need to pick me up, Captain. I'm already here." Cage heard the last part of this conservation as he was walking towards this room. He was just cruising the place. Checking it out. Getting setlelled in. "Hey, Torch. Guess you're one of us after all."

"Took you long enough."
Johnny not only tracked Cage, but pointed him here and told him about Cap. If he needed anymore clues, he'd be stupider then Johnny thought.

Cap paused and lookd between Logan and Cage. "We may need to fight the rest of the New Avengers, guys." He said slowly. "Are you up for this?" Normally, Cap would have known they were without even needing to THINK of asking. But after what seemed like so many betrayals.... Tony, Peter.... Hank...Reed.... he wasn't sure he could really count on anyone any more.

Logan had been quiet during the conversation his mind on something entirely else. As Cap seemed to speak to him he looked up. When he asked if he would fight the other new avengers Logan spoke up. "Hey. Just say when and where." He replied.

"Fine by me." Luke Cage was telling the truth. It was fine by him. He didn't really have any deep, profound reason. Going against half the team was just fine by him. He was a rebel, so he'd have to fight at some point.

Just the a small bug flew in, and went around a couple of people and landed on a chair. Janet quickly grew back into size
"Hey" she said softly

"Janet." said Cap, turning around just before he left. He once again nearly smiled- Janet Pym had been an Avenger for as long as he could remember- even before him!- and though she had been through a lot she was still strong. He hadn't seen her since... the House of M fiasco.
He had heard that she had agreed to join the Resistance- although he hadn't personally seen her since then, too busy cooped up with his strategies. Having her on the team was a huge asset.... although he couldn't help but think, with a shadow on his heart, that her former husband and, as far as he knew, current lover, Hank "Yellowjacket" Pym was said to be working very closely with Tony.
"I'm sorry I don't have more time to greet you properly, but Luke, Logan and I have to jet. When we get back I'll catch up with you!" he pulled on his mask fully and beckoned to the others. "Avengers..." he said. "ASSEMBLE!" And then they charged out

Clint put a hand on Janets shoulder. "I haven't seen you in awhile." Clint found some solice in seeing an Avenger. He was suprised to see Janet Pym though. Especially since Hank was on the Ironmans side.
